Local Councils Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Local Councils Association – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (LCA-KP) was established in 2008 under, “The Societies Registration Act, 1860” as an independent and private association of the elected local government representatives. The Association, being a representative body of more than 42,000 elected councillors, aims to increase the effective participation of the councillors and citizens in local government planning, development and decision-making within the framework of participatory democracy and associative spirit. Since its inception, the LCA-KP is striving to strengthen the local governance structure in the province as enumerated under Article 140-A of the Constitution of Pakistan. Vision To ensure close linkages, coordination, interaction and association with the representatives of the local government within and outside the province. To chalk out strategy and plan for settlement of issues and solution to problems being faced by the local governments. Mission Unified, strong and effective LCA to ensure establishment of vibrant local government system as enumerated under the Article 140-A of the Constitution of Pakistan. Organizational Structure LCA-KP has the following organizational structure: · General Body: 504 members (having 21 members at 24 districts of KP as District Executive Committee) · Board of Governors: 53 members (One member from each district, 33% women, 5% youth, 5% minorities, and 10% village and neighborhood councils members) · Executive Committee: 07 members Executive Committee Mr. Hamayatullah Mayar President Mr. Qasim Ali Shah 1st Vice President Mr. Shahi Dawran 2nd Vice President Mr. Ahmad Ali Shah Convener Mr. Asif Ali Jah General Secretary Mr. Ali Haider Information Secretary Mr. Aamir Ghani Finance Secretary International Liaison and Linkages LCA-KP is a member of various international local government organisations, institutions, and networks: · United Cities and Local Government Asia Pacific (UCLG-ASPAC) · Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) · Local Government Association of England & Wales (LGA-England & Wales) · Federation of Sri Lankan Government Authorities (FSLGA) · Municipal Association of Nepal (MUAN)
